This is the "Octopus Casper", a unique species at a depth of 4,000 meters

The animal Kingdom He keeps surprises in store for us and probably never will.

For this reason, every year a large number of new species that make up the list of known inhabitants of this planet. This is the case of the newly discovered Octopus casper, a little translucent cephalpod that it owes its name to that animated ghost that inspired more tenderness and adorability than fear.

Those responsible for this finding, produced near the coasts of Hawaii, have been a group of scientists from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).

The discovery of the ghost octopus

This discovery was possible thanks to the intervention of a submersible vehicle, who located the little octopus about 4 kilometers deep, around those known as Necker Islands, near the shores of Hawaii.

According to the researchers responsible for the finding, it is very very curious to locate an octopus with its characteristics at that depth, since until now only specimens with fins at that distance.

But this pulpit is not only peculiar due to its location, but also to its skin, devoid of any type of pigmentation, which gives you the ghostly appearance inspiring her name.

Other discoveries of 2016

Although it has only been three months since the new year began, this octopus is not the first new species discovered. For example, in the month of February a new species of turtle at Sonoran desert, in North America, and a few kilometers from there, in the southwestern United States, other group of scientists found a new type of tarntula, which they have baptized as The legend Johnny Cash, in honor of the famous singer.

Unfortunately, just as every year new species appear that have not yet been discovered, so many others are considered in danger of extinction.

Surely there are still many animals hidden waiting for their discovery, although it will only arrive if we do not take their habitat away before. It gives a lot to think about.
